My soul speaks
in colour.

Original artwork — painting, abstract and floral art, mixed media and glass — made in my studio at Wimbledon Art Studios. I work with clients on bespoke pieces, exhibit around twice a year, and run workshops for adults and children.

About

Faria Shamshad

“I am an artist and my soul speaks in colour. I see beauty in the sky, where clouds dance like dreams. I feel peace in flowers, soft and gentle, growing wild and free.

When I paint, I paint my heart. When I draw, I draw my dreams. Art is where I can be me — quiet or loud, happy or sad, like a flower blooming under a cloudy sky. This is my world. This is my magic.”

I am an artist with a Master's degree in Fine Art and a strong passion for painting, design and creating original artwork. Art has always been an important part of my life — it is how I express my creativity and connect with others.

I established my own practice and studio at Wimbledon Art Studios, where I create and exhibit my work: painting, abstract art, floral compositions, mixed media and glass art. I take part in around two exhibitions each year, including solo shows, and work with clients on bespoke pieces — most recently a glass-art installation designed specifically for a flower shop.

I enjoy exploring new materials and techniques, and I am always looking for ways to develop my practice.

Riva Blooms — a florist's shopfront

A wildflower border along one window, and a Christmas window on another: two commissions for the same florist.

A florist's window hand-painted for Christmas — green, red and yellow baubles hung from teal pine sprays and gold leaf sprigs, white snowflakes scattered down the glass and a row of white fir trees along the bottom, with the shop's own poinsettias and Christmas tree showing through behind.

On the glass

How the flower shop was painted

Filmed during the Riva Blooms commission — the flowers going onto the glass, one by one.

  • A dahlia painted on glass, finished — scarlet petals ringed around an orange and yellow centre.

    Time-lapse

    A dahlia, start to finish

Four minutes in ten seconds: the outline, the petals, then the centre.

  • A butterfly outlined in bright blue paint pen on glass, over a painted bank of orange dahlias.

    Line work

    A butterfly, drawn freehand

Painted straight over the finished flowers, with no sketch underneath.

  • Daffodils painted on glass being finished with white highlights, above magenta echinacea and orange dahlias.

    Final pass

    Highlights on the daffodils

White over yellow, the last pass — what makes the flowers read from across the road.

Workshops

Come and paint with me

Sessions for adults and children, at Studio 288 or in your own home. I spent a year as a teaching assistant working with children of different abilities, and I run my workshops the same way — a positive, encouraging environment where everyone works at their own level.

Ask about a session

Tell me who it is for, roughly how many of you there are and when might suit. I will come back to you with what I can offer and what it would cost.
